Addressing Indonesian consumers' anxiety regarding electric vehicle range, PT Chery Sales Indonesia officially launched its latest lineup, the Chery J6T CSH, at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. Featuring Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology under the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) banner, this eco-friendly SUV is specifically designed for inter-city travel without charging constraints.

The REEV technology in this latest J6 Series model relies on an electric motor as the primary driver of the vehicle's wheels, while a conventional gasoline engine acts solely as a generator to charge the battery when needed. This synergy is claimed to boost the combined driving range to over 1,000 kilometers on a single full charge and fuel tank.

Budi Darmawan Jantania, Vice Director of Chery Business Unit Indonesia, explained that the arrival of this new variant is a direct response to local market needs. Domestic consumers long for the quiet driving experience characteristic of electric cars but still want high flexibility during long journeys without being tied to the availability of charging stations.

In addition to offering an impressive range, the signature toughness of the J6 line is maintained in this J6T CSH version. Chery has equipped it with the Tank Turn feature to facilitate maneuvering in tight off-road terrain, 220 mm ground clearance, and the ability to wade through water up to 650 mm deep. Users' outdoor mobility is also supported by a 6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature capable of powering various household electronic appliances while camping.

In terms of safety and comfort, the SUV, which stands proudly on 21-inch wheels, is equipped with a sturdy yet lightweight aluminum chassis, 15 ADAS active safety features, and 6 airbags. Control of all vehicle features is centralized on a 15.6-inch interactive touchscreen. Interested consumers can now place pre-orders (pre-book) and test its performance directly in the GIIAS 2026 test drive area.
