Police officers from the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Regional Police are tightening supervision in the nightlife sector of Pekanbaru City. To anticipate illicit trafficking and drug abuse, a joint team conducted massive raids targeting 12 nightlife venues in the region.
In this preventive operation, officers carried out thorough inspections ranging from body searches and baggage checks to random urine tests on visitors. This tactical step was taken to ensure that nightlife areas are free from the influence of prohibited substances.
The execution of the raids was divided into three separate teams to effectively sweep the area. The Sub-director II of the Riau Regional Police Drug Investigation Directorate, Police Commissioner Bagus Faria, explained that the first team visited Dragon KTV, Paragon KTV, Furaya KTV, and MP Club. At those locations, officers found no indications of drug abuse.
Meanwhile, the sweep by the second team was carried out at C7 KTV, D’Poin, Andrew’s Mart, and Grand Central KTV. Similar to the first team, the results of the inspections at these locations were also declared clean. As for the third team, they swept the Sukajadi and Payung Sekaki sub-districts, specifically at RP Club, Live House, Gen Z, and Empire KTV, with zero findings of addictive substances.
The Riau Regional Police emphasized that similar operations will continue to be carried out regularly and continuously. This effort is expected to narrow the space for drug trafficking and maintain public order in Pekanbaru City, especially in the nightlife entertainment cluster.
