The Tegal Regency Government, through the Metrology Technical Service Unit (UPT) of the Cooperative, SME, and Trade Office, is tightening supervision of measuring instruments by conducting massive recalibration of weighbridges. This step was taken to protect business actors from potential financial losses due to inaccurate weight data.
A total of 40 large-scale companies in the Tegal Regency area are the main targets of this calibration program. Testing the weighing equipment of heavy vehicle loads is considered crucial to maintain transparency and fairness in every industrial trade transaction.
The Head of the Tegal Regency Metrology UPT, Syaiful Bahri Arif, explained that this recalibration is a legal obligation regulated under Law Number 2 of 1981 concerning Legal Metrology. This testing obligation is carried out at least once a year to ensure the feasibility of the measuring instruments.
Weighing facilities declared to meet feasibility standards after undergoing physical and load testing will immediately receive official legality. The Metrology UPT will then issue a Calibration Mark (CTT) and a Test Result Certificate (SKHP) as proof of the instrument's validity.
In addition to the routine periodic schedule of every 6 to 12 months, recalibration must also be requested by business actors after repairs or relocation of weighbridge components. Through this strict standardization, the local government is committed to creating a healthy investment and business climate free from commercial disputes.
