The Indonesian Rugby Union Association (PRUI) of Surabaya City has officially entered a new chapter under the leadership of Dr. Herlina Harsono Njoto, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist. The inauguration ceremony of the 2026–2030 committee took place solemnly at the Gedung Merah Putih Surabaya on Thursday (30/7/2026) and marked an important milestone in the revival of rugby in the City of Heroes.
This inauguration also makes new history in the national sports arena. Herlina is named the first woman in Indonesia trusted to lead a rugby sports organization. Her presence is expected to bring a breath of fresh air as well as a more inclusive and progressive leadership approach.
Under Herlina's command, PRUI Surabaya immediately set high targets. The organization is fully committed to winning the gold medal at the upcoming 2027 East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). To realize this ambition, the new management will focus on sustainable and structured youth athlete development programs.
This tactical move also received full support from the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Surabaya and the Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disbudporapar) of Surabaya City. This cross-organizational synergy is expected to accelerate the cultivation of local talent and popularize the sport of rugby among the citizens of Surabaya.
