Driving Professional Transformation, IKPI Wants Tax Consultants to Become Strategic Business Partners

The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Tax Consultants Association (IKPI), Vaudy Starworld, emphasized the importance of evolving roles for tax practitioners in the country. In his remarks at the Taxation Seminar held by the IKPI Tangerang City Branch in Gading Serpong on Saturday (4/7/2026), he stated that tax consultants must be able to go beyond administrative and technical duties to become trusted business advisors.

Vaudy highlighted the increasingly complex dynamics of the business world, where rapidly changing tax regulations and digitalization demand a high level of adaptation. According to him, tax consultants are not merely compliance officers, but rather crucial pillars that maintain the sustainability of state revenue while serving as strategic partners for taxpayers in navigating business risks.

To respond to these challenges, IKPI is now expanding the scope of its professional services to include corporate law, corporate governance, and risk mitigation. This strategic step is supported by strengthening human resources through formal educational collaboration with various universities up to the doctoral level, as well as the implementation of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme for members.

In addition to academic improvements, the organization is also establishing cross-professional synergies to provide added value for clients. Vaudy emphasized that this investment in competency development aims to ensure that tax consultants are not only proficient in tax compliance, but also possess the capacity to serve as reliable and solution-oriented business consultants.

The seminar, attended by 120 participants, specifically dissected the impact of the latest regulations, including Government Regulation (PP) Number 20 of 2026 and Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 28 of 2026, which are crucial for the e-commerce ecosystem. Utilizing this momentum, Vaudy invited all IKPI members to continuously learn and raise their standards of professionalism to make a tangible contribution to the business world and the country.
