Commission III of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Maluku Province has urged the management of the Regionally-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) PD Panca Karya to immediately submit its business plan documents and latest financial reports. This step is taken as an important foundation for the legislature to evaluate performance and push for the financial recovery of the regional company.
The Chairman of Commission III of the Maluku DPRD, Alhidayat Wajo, explained that the financial condition of PD Panca Karya is currently still in a recovery phase. Given this situation, the company has not yet been able to return the subsidy fund obligations to the Maluku Provincial Government. The return of these funds is projected to only be feasible within the next three to four years.
In order to comprehensively map out the company's real condition, Commission III requested the board of directors to submit the financial reports and business plans as of May 2026. These documents will serve as the primary reference in formulating tactical steps to restore the BUMD's health. Currently, the company's operational continuity is supported by five actively sailing fleets, which are deemed sufficient to finance daily operational needs, although they cannot yet contribute dividends to the region.
Regarding employee welfare, PD Panca Karya management reported that salary payments for employees up to May 2026 have been settled. Meanwhile, administrative obstacles related to delays in depositing BPJS Kesehatan (health insurance) contributions, which temporarily deactivated the membership of some employees, are currently in the process of being resolved by management.
In addition to internal improvements, the meeting also agreed on a target to resume the operations of the Bahtera Nusantara ship by mid-August 2026. This ferry had previously stopped operating due to engine failure following holiday homecoming services. The ship's engine, which is being repaired in Surabaya, is expected to arrive in Ambon within 10 to 15 days to be immediately reinstalled.
Commission III instructed PD Panca Karya to speed up the activation of all fleets that are currently not operating. This step is highly crucial to strengthen inter-island connectivity, facilitate public mobility, and support economic activities in the Maluku archipelago.
