The Deli Serdang Regency Government officially kicked off the grand event of the Deli Serdang Sports Gala 2026 on Saturday (1/8/2026). The opening of this prestigious event was marked by the kick-off of the football match between Pagar Merbau District and Sunggal District by the Regent of Deli Serdang, dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan, along with Vice Regent Lom Lom Suwondo at the Baharoeddin Siregar Stadium.
The tournament, which runs from August 1 to 10, 2026, is attended by representatives from 22 districts across the Deli Serdang region. Apart from football, this multi-event competition, which is part of the EVORIA (Sports, Art and Culture, and Religious Events) program, also features several other popular sports such as volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and skateboarding.
Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan emphasized his commitment to organizing similar competitions two to three times a year. According to him, tournament consistency is crucial for sharpening the competitive mindset, keeping the younger generation away from negative activities, while preparing a strong contingent to face the upcoming North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).
In line with the opening of the tournament, the regency government officials also reviewed the progress of supporting sports facilities construction, including futsal and basketball courts. The local government is currently designing a comprehensive renovation plan for the Baharoeddin Siregar Stadium to meet national standards so that it is ready to host various large-scale championships in the future.
