The 2026 National Roller Sports Championship, held at the Athletics Sports Palace in Hanoi, has officially come to an end. The two-day event on July 4-5 not only showcased the athletes' skills but also served as a benchmark for the readiness of roller sports, which will be officially contested for the first time at the 10th National Games.
The tournament was a strategic collaboration between the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the Vietnam Skating and Roller Skating Federation (SFV), and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports. A total of 153 athletes from 12 regional delegations competed across various disciplines, ranging from speed skating and artistic skating to skateboarding, offering fierce competition in technique and speed.
One of the main highlights of this year's event was the implementation of competition standards that will be used at the National Games. This provided a valuable opportunity for each region to map out team strengths and test athletes' strategic readiness, particularly in prestigious events like the 3,000m relay, which demands precise team coordination.
Ho Chi Minh City's dominance was evident as they captured 17 gold medals, followed by the contingents from Tay Ninh and Dong Thap in second and third place, respectively. This achievement confirms the systematic investment made by these regions in nurturing young talents who are now drawing closer to international professional standards.
The success of the event is seen as a crucial foundation for the development of roller sports in Vietnam. Beyond identifying champions, the championship serves as an evaluation space for the Federation to continue coaching, ensuring the successful integration of roller sports into a more modern and competitive national sports ecosystem in the future.
