The Legok Jawa Horse Racing Track in Pangandaran Regency has officially hosted the Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) National Championship Series 1 – Indonesia Derby 2026. Unlike in previous years, this prestigious horse racing event features an innovative concept called "Summer Race," which combines intense sports competition with the appeal of coastal beach tourism.
Developed by SARGA.CO, the event is designed to present a festival atmosphere along the Pangandaran beach area. This step aims to provide a new experience for visitors so they can enjoy the dexterity of horse racing alongside natural beauty and various entertainments in one integrated location.
Enthusiasm for this national tournament is exceptionally high. SARGA.CO's Vice President of Marketing & Operation, Kevin Jonathan, revealed that as many as 158 of the best horses from 13 provinces in Indonesia entered the arena to compete for a fantastic total prize of Rp1 billion in the race held on Sunday (26/7/2026).
To spoil the spectators, the organizers provided various unique recreational facilities such as the "Coconut Party," which distributed free young coconuts, a cooling zone, and an entertainment stage enlivened by the popular podcast group, Podkesmas. Not only targeting local spectators, the championship was also broadcast live in English via the official Indonesia Horse Racing YouTube channel under the grand theme "Raise to the World Stage" to promote the potential of national equestrian sports to the global arena.
The excitement of the event was also attended and directly supported by several national figures, including the former Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti. Through this synergy between sports, tourism, and entertainment, the 2026 Indonesia Derby is expected to strengthen Pangandaran Regency's position as a premier national sport tourism destination while driving the local economy.
