The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI Pusat) has established a synergy with Surabaya State University (Unesa) to dissect the book titled “Sports Intelligence: Membangun Ekosistem Olahraga Berbasis Data Menuju Indonesia Emas 2045”. The event, which took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) Unesa, Surabaya, marks an important momentum in transforming the management of national athlete development.

Amid increasingly fierce global sports competition, mastering technology has become the main determinant of victory. The book offers a new paradigm that combines conventional sports science with cutting-edge innovations, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics. This approach is expected to enhance athlete performance from an early age in a more precise and measurable manner.

Unesa Rector, Nurhasan, emphasized his institution's commitment to becoming the main research center for sports intelligence implementation. According to him, it is time for training methods relying solely on intuition to be replaced with scientific data-based patterns. This step is considered crucial for Indonesia to compete on the international stage sustainably.

Meanwhile, General Chairman of KONI Pusat, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Marciano Norman, positioned the book as a strategic brain to achieve ambitious targets, namely breaking into the top 10 of the 2032 Olympics and the top 5 by 2044. Beyond supporting achievements, this system is also projected to become a crucial instrument in safeguarding sports integrity from threats of doping and match-fixing.

During the discussion session, the authoring team consisting of Eman Sungkowo, Syarif Hidayat, and Jerry Indrawan explained the “Sports Intelligence Cycle” concept. This strategy encompasses stages from planning to in-depth analysis through Human Intelligence (HUMINT) and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) methods. Through real-time evaluation, decision-makers and coaches are expected to map out athlete potential and opponents' strategies with high accuracy.
