The Ternate City Government continues to strengthen the social protection system for its citizens. During the evaluation of the 2026 North Maluku Province Level Jamsostek Award, which took place online on Wednesday (22/7/2026), the Mayor of Ternate, Dr. H. M. Tauhid Soleman, presented various strategies for expanding employment social security, which has now reached the sports sector.

Based on the presentation, the coverage rate of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Ternate City showed a positive trend, reaching 73.45 percent. This achievement was realized thanks to the local government's consistency in registering formal workers, temporary staff, neighborhood/community association (RT/RW) officials, religious leaders, and vulnerable worker groups such as fishermen, farmers, and motorcycle taxi (ojek) drivers.

Not only targeting the informal sector and vulnerable workers, the Ternate City Government is now taking progressive steps by providing protection for sports personnel. This policy targets athletes competing in the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in Tobelo and the Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) in Morotai, as well as local football coaches.

The guarantee provided includes the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM) programs. This step was taken to provide a sense of security against the high risk of physical injury during competition, while also serving as a form of government appreciation for the dedication of sports figures in bringing honor to Ternate.

This protection program, funded through the regional budget (APBD), is in line with the "Ternate Andalan Jilid II" vision under the leadership of Tauhid Soleman and Nasri Abubakar. With measured budgeting, the Ternate City Government is committed to creating inclusive and sustainable social security governance for all elements of society.
