Muhammad Sabudi Darmawan has officially taken the helm of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) of East Halmahera Regency (Haltim) for the 2023–2028 term following the committee's inauguration ceremony. Under this new leadership, the organization is fully committed to reviving the passion for automotive sports and scouting potential young racers in the region.
In his inaugural speech, Sabudi emphasized that this leadership mandate requires solid collaboration between the board, the local government, and all automotive enthusiasts. This momentum is also marked by the return of dirt track racing (grasstrack) in East Halmahera after a 12-year hiatus, an initial step considered crucial for reviving local talent.
Furthermore, IMI Haltim projects the region to become one of the leading sport tourism hubs in North Maluku Province. Various planned championships, such as motocross, road racing, and drag biking, have been prepared to enliven the upcoming automotive calendar.
In addition to focusing on athlete development, Sabudi explained that hosting racing events is also designed to create a multiplier effect on the local economy, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He hopes that the North Maluku Provincial Board of IMI will provide full support by including Haltim's racing agenda in the official provincial calendar.
