The Kariangau Sub-district administration in Balikpapan is committed to improving the quality of public services by ensuring that all of its staff are in prime physical condition. This concrete step was realized through a periodic health check program for all sub-district staff, in collaboration with the Kariangau Community Health Center (Puskesmas) on Thursday (30/7/2026).
Head of Kariangau Sub-district, Singgih Aji Wibowo, explained that this agenda is not merely a formal routine. The medical check-up is a tangible form of the institution's care for the health of its employees who serve the community daily. According to him, healthy staff are the key to providing fast, precise, and optimal services.
Singgih added that maintaining the fitness of sub-district staff holds equal urgency to improving work competency. When the physical and mental conditions of employees are at their best, focus and work productivity will automatically increase, ultimately having a direct positive impact on residents requiring administrative services.
During the implementation, the medical team from the Kariangau Puskesmas conducted a series of basic checks. The health screening included blood pressure measurement, weight measurement, waist circumference measurement, as well as other general health evaluations conducted gradually to detect potential health issues early.
Early detection is considered crucial given that many serious health problems do not show symptoms in the early stages. Through these test results, the sub-district administration encourages staff to start consistently implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS), including monitoring food intake, exercising regularly, and getting enough rest.
Looking ahead, Kariangau Sub-district is committed to strengthening synergy with the Kariangau Puskesmas in various other promotive and preventive programs. Singgih also urged the general public not to delay health checks until they fall ill, but to treat them as a valuable investment for the future.
