Indonesia and India officially strengthened their strategic partnership through the signing of 16 memorandums of understanding during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace. The main focus of this agreement targets the healthcare sector, with India committing to facilitate the supply of high-quality yet more affordable pharmaceutical products for the Indonesian people.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that this step is not just about product distribution, but also includes human resource development in the medical field. India plans to provide full support in capacity building for healthcare workers through intensive training programs for doctors and medical professionals in Indonesia.
In addition to cooperation in the health sector, both countries also addressed food security and technology development. India is committed to sharing innovations in superior wheat seeds and sustainable agricultural technology. In the field of science, collaboration between the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was extended to expand the peaceful use of space technology.
PM Modi's three-day state visit encompasses a broad spectrum of cooperation, including defense, energy, culture, and human resource research and development. After completing the state agenda in Jakarta, the visit will continue to Yogyakarta with a planned tour of the historic Prambanan Temple area.
