School of Business and Management Institute of Technology Bandung (SBM ITB) officially introduced the Sustainable Business Institute during a media gathering event held at the MBA ITB Building, Bandung, on Monday (6/7/2026). This initiative marks a strategic step for the institution in expanding the reach of its academic contributions to make them more relevant for the business world, government, and the broader public.
Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Dr. Aurik Gustomo, S.T., M.T., emphasized that the institution he leads is currently transforming into a global-scale educational hub. One of the key indicators of success is the significant surge in the number of international students, with a target of reaching 400 people this year, the majority coming from leading universities in Europe. In addition, the involvement of 15 international visiting professors further strengthens SBM ITB's position, which has already earned prestigious AACSB accreditation.
Through the Sustainable Business Institute, SBM ITB seeks to translate the spirit of "Impactful SBM" into concrete solutions on the ground. This approach is no longer limited to classroom theory, but rather research-based collaboration involving lecturers, students, and stakeholders. Real examples of this initiative include enhancing digital literacy for MSMEs in the Cirata area, mentoring social forestry programs in Garut, and revitalizing the economy at Cihapit Market.
Dedy Sushandoyo, Ph.D., on the occasion emphasized that the educational DNA at SBM ITB is grounded in an entrepreneurial business spirit that dares to take risks to generate added value. This synergy between education, research, and community service is designed to create an impact that is not just momentary, but sustainable and scalable according to local needs.
In line with this vision, Anggara Wisesa added that the resulting social impact must be integrated into the Higher Education Tri Dharma (Three Pillars of Higher Education). By adopting collaborative and bottom-up working patterns, SBM ITB hopes to address complex challenges in society, ranging from market access to long-term economic resilience. Through various programs such as The Greater Hub, Sadulur, and Teras Hijau Project, SBM ITB now positions itself as a catalyst for progressive social change in Indonesia.
