The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan is demonstrating a serious commitment to expanding the reach of education for local communities. One of the strategic steps currently being accelerated is the construction of Sekolah Rakyat (People's Schools), whose physical progress in Gunung Mas Regency is reported to have reached 80 percent.
Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, revealed that this initiative is designed as an integrated educational facility covering elementary, middle, and high school levels. This step is part of the local government's systematic efforts to provide inclusive and equitable learning facilities for all segments of society.
In a dialogue with representatives of the Cipayung Plus student organization at Istana Isen Mulang on Wednesday (25/6), the Governor expressed optimism regarding the addition of educational infrastructure. Central Kalimantan has reportedly been allocated four locations for Sekolah Rakyat, with the potential for three additional new locations in the future, including planned construction in Kapuas Regency.
In addition to the Sekolah Rakyat program, the provincial government is also working on the construction of Sekolah Garuda (Garuda School). Unlike Sekolah Rakyat, this facility is specifically dedicated to high-achieving students as a venue for developing superior human resource potential in Central Kalimantan.
Through the construction of these two educational institutions, the Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan hopes to produce a competitive young generation while addressing the challenge of equalizing the quality of education to remote areas.
