Ahead of the 2026/2027 season, Persebaya Surabaya has officially made a major leap in athlete performance management by adopting cutting-edge sport science technology, VALD. This step was taken as part of the club's efforts to create a measurable professional training ecosystem while significantly reducing player injury risks through objective data.

Persebaya's Operational Director, Candra Wahyudi, emphasized that investing in medical infrastructure and technology is a crucial asset for the club. According to him, precise physical condition monitoring allows the medical department to accelerate player recovery processes while ensuring every individual reaches peak fitness before taking the field.

Persebaya's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pratama Wicaksana Wijaya, explained that the VALD system goes beyond standard examination methods. This technology enables the medical team to conduct in-depth testing, ranging from isometric muscle strength analysis and neuromuscular balance to three-dimensional movement efficiency. Each parameter will later be converted into numerical data that serves as a reference for fitness coaches in formulating player-specific training programs.

The use of devices such as HumanTrak for biomechanical analysis, ForceDecks to measure explosive power, and SmartSpeed to monitor agility and reaction time, has become a new internal standard at Persebaya. This testing targets not only senior team players but is also integrated into the Persebaya Academy and Elite Pro Academy (EPA) levels to support long-term athlete development.

Player physical condition evaluations through this system will be conducted periodically four to six times a season. With this data-driven approach, the coaching staff and physiotherapy team are expected to monitor player progress transparently and accurately, allowing all players to deliver peak performance when the competition gets underway.
