The international table tennis tournament, Paser International Table Tennis Championship (PITTC) 2026, was officially closed after taking place for a week at the Sadurengas Sports Hall (GOR) in Paser Regency. This inaugural championship is considered a huge success, both in terms of technical organization and the achievements of local athletes who were able to compete on the global stage.
The Regent of Paser, dr. Fahmi Fadli, officially closed the competition and expressed his deep appreciation to all elements that contributed, including the committee, sponsors, and security forces. This success has prompted the local government to project the international table tennis tournament as a consistent annual sporting event.
In addition to the smooth running of the event, the host contingent recorded a brilliant achievement by clinching the titles in the Men's Singles and Women's Singles categories, as well as securing the runner-up position in the Mixed Doubles. This achievement is expected to boost the spirit of coaching young athletes in Paser Regency.
This prestigious competition was attended by 25 table tennis clubs and representatives from micro-groups of six countries, namely Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, and Cambodia. The presence of these international participants proves the feasibility of Paser Regency's infrastructure and accessibility to host international-scale sporting events.
Not only impacting athletic achievement development, the hosting of PITTC 2026 also provided a positive stimulus for the local economy through the concept of sport tourism. The hospitality, culinary, transportation sectors, and local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) also experienced a surge in economic activity during the tournament.
