Wall Street stock markets recorded a positive performance at the close of Friday's trading (7/10/2026). This gain was mainly supported by the impressive performance of the technology sector, which sparked investor optimism and pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices into green territory for the week.
Market data showed the S&P 500 index rose 0.42% to 7,575.39, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.29% to reach 26,281.61. On the other hand, the Dow Jones Industrial Average also moved up by 0.29% or 149.60 points to 52,637.01.
Investor buying was focused on mega-cap tech stocks. Nvidia recorded a significant gain of around 4%, while Meta Platforms surged up to 6%. Meta's performance this week was its best since early 2024, buoyed by cost efficiency prospects in artificial intelligence (AI) development and a buy recommendation from Bank of America analysts.
In addition to mega-cap stock movements, market attention was also focused on the Nasdaq debut of South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix. The company's shares immediately surged around 13% from their initial offering price. Despite being positively received, SK Hynix's presence introduces new competitive dynamics for U.S. domestic semiconductor companies, including Micron Technology, in competing for investor funds.
Overall, while the Dow Jones slipped around 0.5% over the week, other major indices like the S&P 500 and Nasdaq managed to close the weekly period with growth of over 1%.
