The Principal of State Elementary School (SDN) 2 Pinggir, Bengkalis Regency, Riana Putry Amelia, S.Pd, provided an official clarification regarding the issue of recruiting new educators amid the ban on hiring non-Civil Servant (non-ASN) teachers. Riana emphasized that the school she leads did not hire any new honorary teachers or teaching staff.

However, Riana confirmed that there is a new person assisted at the school. Nevertheless, she clarified that the individual's status is not an official teacher, but rather a sports extracurricular activity instructor to fill the vacancy of sports instructors at the school.

According to Riana's explanation, the individual had previously applied for a job as a teacher at SDN 2 Pinggir. The application had to be rejected because the school must comply with strict regulations prohibiting the appointment of new teachers. As a solution to the shortage of physical education teachers, the school finally decided to appoint the individual as an extracurricular instructor.

The appointment was admitted to be made directly by the principal without any official Decree (SK) from the Bengkalis Regency Education Agency. Riana also emphasized that the honorarium provided ranges from IDR 200,000 to IDR 300,000, sourced from the extracurricular development budget, rather than a teacher's monthly salary.

The presence of the extracurricular instructor at the school almost daily is claimed to be for gaining work experience. In addition to assisting with sports activities, they also help welcome students in the morning and assist teachers in various other supporting activities.

This appointment step has drawn attention regarding the validity of the recruitment mechanism for assistant staff in public schools. Further confirmation is being sought from the Bengkalis Regency Education Agency to clarify the limits of authority and the legality of funding for such extracurricular instructors, so the public receives balanced information in accordance with regulations.
