Amid the rapid pace of digital transformation and the penetration of artificial intelligence, concerns have arisen that modernization will erode the spiritual values of society. However, the narrative pitting technology against faith is refuted by the view of the Governor of North Sulawesi, Yulius Selvanus.
In his address to thousands of participants at the GMIM Synod Church Youth Work Camp (PKPG) 2026, Yulius emphasized the importance of making faith and technology the two main wings of North Sulawesi's progress. According to him, modern developments should not distance someone from their faith, but rather serve as a means to optimize one's potential for the common good.
Governor Yulius encouraged the younger generation, especially church cadres, not to fall behind in mastering digital literacy. He hopes that the combination of technological skills and a strong moral foundation will produce future leaders with integrity who can compete on the global stage without losing their spiritual identity.
