A stellar achievement was accomplished by the MTs Al-Wathoniyah 43 contingent from Rorotan, North Jakarta, at the traditional sports competition held by PORTINA DKI Jakarta. In the event held at GOR Ciracas on Saturday (4/7/2026), the madrasah team successfully brought home the first-place title in the relay stilt walking category.
The championship, organized to celebrate the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta, was attended by dozens of junior and senior high school students from across the capital. In addition to their success in the stilt walking event, the MTs Al-Wathoniyah 43 delegation also participated in the long wooden clog (terompah panjang) category as part of efforts to preserve the nation's cultural heritage.
The Head of MTs Al-Wathoniyah 43, Munawaroh, expressed pride in the dedication and sportsmanship demonstrated by the students. According to her, this success is the fruit of disciplined practice and solid teamwork. She believes that student involvement in traditional sports serves as an effective medium for building strong character while fostering love for national culture.
Furthermore, Munawaroh explained that stilt walking offers many valuable lessons for students, ranging from physical balance and concentration to a never-give-up mindset. For her, every step taken on the bamboo stilts reflects the perseverance students need to achieve their future goals.
The school hopes this achievement will serve as a motivational spark for all students to continue exploring their non-academic potential. Moving forward, MTs Al-Wathoniyah 43 is committed to supporting student talent development to produce an outstanding and character-driven younger generation on a broader stage.
