The government is stepping on the gas to prepare for the organization of the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage. The Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj), Mochammad Irfan Yusuf, instructed all ministry staff at the central and regional levels to move quickly to align their steps with the operational timeline set by the Government of Saudi Arabia.
During a working visit to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Bali Province on Thursday (23/7/2026), the Minister, affectionately known as Gus Irfan, emphasized the importance of synergy and timeliness in every stage of preparation. According to him, the success of Hajj services depends heavily on solid coordination to ensure the comfort of prospective pilgrims.
Furthermore, Gus Irfan underlined that the benchmark for the success of the Hajj transformation is not solely seen from the aspects of administrative smoothness and transportation. Far more important is the institutions' ability to provide a sense of security, peace of mind, and certainty for pilgrims from the preparation period in the homeland until they return from the Holy Land.
One crucial point highlighted by the Minister was the strengthening of the *istitha'ah* (health capabilities) aspect, or the fulfillment of pilgrims' physical readiness. He requested that the medical examination process for prospective Hajj pilgrims be conducted well in advance, accompanied by regular health guidance programs.
This preventive measure is considered a tangible form of protection from the state to minimize the risk of health issues during the pilgrimage. Gus Irfan is optimistic that the fit and medically ready physical condition of the pilgrims will support the solemnity and smoothness of the worship rituals in the Holy Land.
