The Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, officially began working from the Nias Islands region this week. This strategic move was taken as part of the provincial government's commitment to get closer to the community while ensuring that the acceleration of development in the island region proceeds according to established targets.
In his statement in Medan on Monday (13/7/2026), Bobby revealed that this initiative to set up office in the region will be carried out continuously on a rotational basis with the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra. This proactive approach is expected to cut through bureaucratic obstacles and monitor the implementation of priority programs more effectively.
The main focus of this working visit includes upgrading educational facilities to ensure comfortable teaching and learning activities, as well as an in-depth inspection of crucial infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and ports. As a side note, the North Sumatra Provincial Government previously successfully completed the construction of the Idano Noyo Bridge following the governor's initial visit.
In addition to highlighting the physical sector, Bobby is also scheduled to inspect public healthcare facilities to ensure service standards remain top-notch. Beyond the formal agenda, the number one person in North Sumatra is also planned to engage in direct dialogue with local residents and participate in community activities such as a joint movie viewing in Gunungsitoli City.
