The South Tangerang City Government has officially transformed the role of Posyandu into a life-cycle-based healthcare service center. This step was taken to expand the scope of public health services, which previously focused only on toddlers, to now cover teenagers, pregnant women, productive age groups, and the elderly.
Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, emphasized that this paradigm shift is part of efforts to strengthen the front line of primary healthcare services. In his directive in Setu District, he stressed the importance of Posyandu's role in supporting comprehensive Minimum Service Standards (SPM) in the health sector.
As a form of concrete support, the city government is currently focusing on building the capacity of more than 5,000 Posyandu cadres spread across seven districts. The intensive training aims to equip cadres with early detection skills and deeper health education, alongside the expanded scope of services provided to the community.
Benyamin expressed high appreciation for the dedication of thousands of cadres who have become the spearhead of health services at the sub-district level. According to him, the cadres' contributions are vital in achieving a comprehensive and sustainable improvement in the health status of South Tangerang residents.
