The rising trend of healthy lifestyles in Bandung City needs to be balanced with a mature understanding of each individual's physical limits. To reduce the risk of injury and fatal cardiac events, Murni Teguh Naripan Hospital Bandung held an educational event titled "Safe Pace Strong Heart" on Saturday (25/7/2026).
The Director of Murni Teguh Naripan Hospital Bandung, dr. Rully Sjambali, explained that the rise of sports communities such as running, cycling, and yoga in public spaces is a highly positive phenomenon. However, this high enthusiasm is often not accompanied by adequate physical readiness assessments to handle high-intensity activities.
As a preventive measure, the seminar introduced a practical way to measure heart capacity during exercise using a simple formula: 220 minus the participant's age. Through this method, the public is expected to monitor their maximum heart rate so that training intensity remains within a safe corridor for cardiovascular health.
Echoing this sentiment, sports medicine specialist dr. Ijan Aprijana reminded the audience of the importance of gradually building a fitness foundation before diving into extreme sports. He emphasized that ideal fitness is not achieved through cardio training alone, but rather through a combination of muscle strengthening, joint flexibility, adequate nutrition, and quality rest.
