The Class I Tangerang Correctional Institution (Lapas) held a free health check (CKG) and mass tuberculosis (TB) screening program for inmates. The program, which ran for three days from July 28 to 30, 2026, was attended by at least 600 inmates to detect potential infectious diseases early within the prison.

This concrete action is an implementation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia's Quick Win Program (PHTC). This step also represents close collaboration between the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services and the Ministry of Health to ensure the success of the 2026 National Kick-Off for Health Checks and TB Screening for vulnerable groups.

The series of examinations was carried out comprehensively by a joint medical team from the Sukasari Health Center, Batusari Health Center, and the Tangerang Prison health team. Each inmate underwent TB symptom screening using the RANSEL TB instrument, tests for infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis C, and syphilis, as well as chest X-rays. Inmates indicated to have TB will be followed up with a Molecular Rapid Test (TCM) using sputum samples sent to Sitanala Hospital in Tangerang.

The Head of the Inmate Development Division of Class I Tangerang Prison, Dwi Fu'ad Jamali, emphasized that the health level of inmates greatly influences the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs in the institution. According to him, early detection allows medical treatment to be carried out faster so that inmates can undergo their rehabilitation period in prime condition.

Echoing this sentiment, the Head of the Care Section of Class I Tangerang Prison, Tria, ensured that the examination process is run continuously. The prison management is committed to ensuring that inmates diagnosed with health issues are not only screened but also receive intensive medical treatment in accordance with applicable procedures.

The program received positive appreciation from the inmates, who felt that their health rights are still prioritized by the state. This collaborative step between the Tangerang Prison, local government, and health institutions is expected to strengthen correctional health services while supporting the national target for tuberculosis elimination.
