The Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) and global technology giant Siemens have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research and the application of digital technology. This cooperation represents a concrete step in supporting Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW regarding the acceleration of national innovation and digital transformation in the energy, petroleum, and related industrial sectors.
This strategic partnership will focus on developing cutting-edge solutions, including digital twin technology, artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart operations, big data analytics, and asset performance management. The collaboration is designed to integrate Siemens' technical expertise with VPI's practical field experience to produce precise solutions relevant to the characteristics of Vietnam's energy market.
Dr. Pham Thai Lai, President and CEO of Siemens ASEAN and Vietnam, stated that this initiative is vital for Vietnam's energy transition toward its net-zero emissions target by 2050. He emphasized that the development of strategic technologies such as green hydrogen, advanced energy storage, and carbon capture forms a crucial foundation for Vietnam to lead a cleaner and smarter energy system transition.
Echoing these sentiments, VPI Director Dr. Nguyen Van Tu welcomed the partnership as a new chapter in the scientific development of his institution. VPI is optimistic that the synergy between Siemens' technology platform and VPI's research will make a significant contribution to securing national energy security and accelerating the digitalization of the industrial sector through an innovative and sustainable approach.
