The atmosphere around the Jatiwaringin Waste Disposal Site (TPA), Mauk District, Tangerang Regency, looked different on Friday (3/7/2026). Amid officers' efforts to tame the remaining plumes of fire smoke, dozens of residents packed the area around the location to watch the aerial firefighting operation.

The presence of the water bombing helicopter, maneuvering to draw water from the lake and then spray it onto the fire spots, became a unique attraction. Standing at a safe distance of about 850 meters, residents looked enthusiastic watching this rare sight in the region. The boisterous voices of children could be heard every time the helicopter flew overhead.

For parents, this moment was considered educational as well as impromptu entertainment during the school holidays. Lilis, one of the residents who came with her family, admitted she purposely brought her children and nieces/nephews to see the process firsthand out of curiosity.

Echoing this sentiment, another resident named Diah Anjani revealed that she came at her children's request. Although she was initially worried about the situation around the landfill, she felt relieved because the flames had begun to subside, leaving only plumes of smoke, and the viewing area was deemed to be within safe limits.
