The Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Samarinda City provided clarification regarding parent concerns over the zoning-based New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) process for the 2026/2027 academic year. The agency assured that the digital infrastructure used has been designed with a robust security system and operates according to procedure without technical glitches.
Head of Samarinda Diskominfo, Aji Syarif Hidayatullah, emphasized that his agency's role is limited to system manager and technical developer, not student admission policy executor. Responding to reports of prospective students failing to enter schools due to coordinate mismatches, Aji assessed that this was not a system error, but rather the result of the applicants' own actions.
According to Aji, there are indications that some applicants intentionally shifted their residential coordinates closer to their desired target schools. Such practices are deemed futile as the SPMB database is equipped with strict protection features that automatically detect discrepancies between the ID card address and the submitted coordinates.
The system verifies the digital history thoroughly so that location manipulation attempts will be detected during data validation. Diskominfo asserted that any coordinate changes leave a traceable track record, while urging the public to report administrative technical issues directly to the SPMB implementation team at the respective schools.
