The Semarang City Government remains committed to strengthening the local industrial ecosystem through initiatives that bring Small and Medium Industry (SMI) players together with business circles. This strategic step was realized through the Business Matchmaking event, which is part of the acceleration of the Waras Ekonomi (Healthy Economy) Program.

During the event held on Tuesday (4/8/2026), as many as 10 large businesses committed to collaborating with 21 local SMIs. This partnership covers the marketing of more than 40 local products, with the hope that these creative commodities can be optimally absorbed, particularly by the hospitality sector in the Atlas City to be served to guests.

Head of the Semarang City Industry Office, Arwita Mawarti, explained that there are currently around 1,600 SMIs spread across 24 industrial centers in Semarang City, ranging from signature culinary sectors such as lumpia (spring rolls) and bandeng (milkfish), to handicrafts, metal, and batik. To support operational ease and accelerate the management of these industrial centers, her office is currently developing an integrated digital system called Smart Indigo.

The Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, welcomed this concrete collaboration. According to her, the business matchmaking event serves as an important foundation to prepare Semarang City for the 2027 development plan, which rests on economic acceleration and the regional tourism sector.

As a sign of commitment, the local government will prepare comprehensive assistance, ranging from organizing coaching clinics, product presentations (pitching), to facilitating permits such as PIRT (Household Food Industry certificate), halal certification, and digital promotion. This mentoring pattern will be tailored to the capacity and orientation of each business player, both those focusing on strengthening the domestic market and those ready to enter the export market.
