Jakarta – General Chairperson of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI), Firdaus, along with Secretary General Makali Kumar, led a strategic meeting attended by board members from various regions in Indonesia on Friday (12/6/2026). The intensive discussion at the Central SMSI Secretariat focused on mapping the national political constellation and its influence on the press industry ecosystem in the country.
On that occasion, Firdaus mapped the network of political influence through a comprehensive analysis. He explained the close link between global geopolitical dynamics, strategic moves of national figures, and the pattern of information flow currently developing in society. This approach aims to ensure that all SMSI members in the regions have high sensitivity in reading the changing times.
Firdaus emphasized that as a cyber media organization with the largest network, SMSI must play an active role as a provider of trusted information. He hopes that its members do not just follow the flow but are capable of being objective and professional information guides, maintaining the dignity of journalistic independence amidst the challenges of information technology.
Furthermore, the meeting also highlighted the crucial role of cyber media in maintaining the quality of democracy through balanced and responsible reporting. All members are expected to enhance their journalistic capacity so that voices from the regions continue to have strong bargaining power in national issues.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion formulating tactical steps for board members at the provincial to district/city levels. The outcome of this meeting is expected to serve as a solid guideline for SMSI member media to remain adaptive in facing the increasingly dynamic and competitive media landscape.
