Nusa Mandiri University (UNM) continues to strengthen its commitment to producing job-ready digital talent by providing cutting-edge technology training. This concrete effort was realized by the Informatics Study Program of UNM Master's Program by organizing an online workshop entitled "Utilization of Infura as a Blockchain Gateway in Smart Metering Systems".
The activity was designed to strengthen students' competencies in Blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Web3, which are increasingly crucial in the modern industrial era. Secretary of the Master of Informatics Study Program at UNM, Dr. Eni Heni Hermaliani, explained that the application of blockchain has now expanded into various strategic sectors beyond finance, including smart energy monitoring systems. Through this training, students are expected to not only understand theoretical concepts but also possess practical skills to create innovative solutions.
The workshop featured an academic from Bandung State Polytechnic (POLBAN), Maya Rahayu, Ph.D., as the key speaker. In her presentation, Maya thoroughly examined basic blockchain concepts up to the implementation of the Infura platform as a gateway for smart metering systems. The learning session was interactive, combining theory and hands-on practical exercises that were enthusiastically joined by participants.
During the practical session, students simulated building a blockchain-based smart metering system using the Ethereum Sepolia network. They practiced configuring development environments, wallet creation, smart contract deployment, backend and frontend system integration, as well as data tampering detection mechanisms to maintain data integrity in a transparent and secure manner.
Head of the Master of Informatics Study Program at UNM, Prof. Dr. Agus Subekti, emphasized that this activity is part of the institution's strategy to present a curriculum adaptive to global technological developments. Through mastering strategic technologies such as blockchain and Web3, UNM graduates are expected to be able to produce useful applied research and lead digital transformation in society.
