The Gorontalo Provincial Government has taken a strategic step to ensure the sustainability of infrastructure following the 17th Farmers and Fishermen National Week (PENAS XVII) in 2026. The land previously used as the Technology Exhibition (Geltek) site will be developed into the Gorontalo Integrated Farming (GIF) area.
The Governor of Gorontalo, Gusnar Ismail, directly led coordination with the Center for Agricultural Modernization Application (BRMP) to design this integration concept. The GIF area is projected not only to serve as an innovation dissemination center, but also to function as an educational agritourism destination and a platform for business development in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries.
To ensure sustainable operation, the local government emphasized the importance of formal agreements with landowners. This cooperation framework will include a fair benefit-sharing system and a transparent asset utilization mechanism, ensuring that all involved parties receive a positive impact from the integrated area.
In addition to involving farmer groups in applying modern cultivation technology, the government is also drafting operational guidelines for visits. This regulation is designed so that the area can serve the general public, ranging from students to agribusiness practitioners, in a professional and educational manner.
As a legal umbrella, the Gorontalo Provincial Government is currently finalizing the Governor's Decree regarding the management of the area. This administrative step represents a tangible commitment to turning the former PENAS XVII site into a future agricultural learning hub with a broad impact on the economy of the Gorontalo people.
