PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is entering a major transformation phase by making West Java the epicenter of its new business growth. This step was taken to shift the company's long-standing image as a housing finance specialist bank toward a financial institution capable of serving various productive economic sectors.

Regional Office Head of BTN West Java Regional Office, Asvianti Handaru, emphasized that this strategic shift is based on the massive economic potential of West Java, which continues to grow. BTN's expansion focus now extends to industrial estates, hotels, restaurants, and cafes (horeca), utilizing an integrated ecosystem approach to meet all the financial needs of business actors.

In its implementation, BTN divides the West Java operational area based on its economic characteristics. The West Java 1 region, which covers Bekasi to Karawang, is focused on targeting the manufacturing and industrial estate sectors. Meanwhile, the West Java 2 region, which spans the Greater Bandung area to Cirebon, is directed to support the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors.

Asvianti added that through the ecosystem approach, BTN does not only provide credit facilities but also comprehensive transactional solutions for customers. This strategy is expected to boost the company's non-interest income while strengthening long-term relationships with local businesses in the region.

Despite expanding into the commercial sector, BTN consistently maintains its dominance in the Home Ownership Loan (KPR) segment, which is a government program. Around 90 percent of the company's financing portfolio is still allocated to subsidized KPR and other housing finance, which also serves as BTN's primary capital to expand penetration into new business lines.

Looking ahead, BTN is also targeting the great potential of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector and the creative industries in West Java. With the support of a stronger digital transformation, the company is optimistic that it can become a primary partner for various business sectors, while making a significant contribution to the national economy.
