Lampung Province became the first location visited by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, as he began his political safari on Friday (26/6/2026). Upon arrival at Raden Inten II Airport in Natar, the entourage immediately headed to Wirabangun Village, Simpang Pematang District, Mesuji Regency, which served as the starting point of his visit.
Joko Widodo's presence in Mesuji was filled with a consolidation agenda with Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) cadres and volunteer groups. A warm welcome was observed as hundreds of supporters crowded the event venue just to greet or take photos with the figure who had led Indonesia for two terms.
This visit marks Jokowi's first local political move after his retirement. The agenda, scheduled to run for three days, covers several strategic areas, including Tulang Bawang, Bandar Lampung, Pesawaran, and East Lampung. In addition to connecting with the public, this event also serves as an arena to consolidate volunteer networks and attend the PSI Regional Working Meeting (Rakerda).
Although this series of visits is being conducted in areas that were strong voting bases in the 2024 Election, there has been no official statement regarding the direct link of this political safari to the political landscape ahead of the 2029 Election. However, Jokowi's active steps in maintaining political communication in various regions are viewed by the public as a strategic effort to strengthen his support base and future political network.
After completing the agenda in Mesuji, the former head of state is scheduled to continue his political journey to Tulang Bawang Regency to proceed with the party's internal consolidation.
