A video recording showing a violent eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau at night sparked public anxiety after circulating widely across various social media platforms. In the video, massive volcanic activity is seen recorded from the perspective of someone on a boat.

Responding to the uproar, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), through the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), immediately issued a clarification. Authorities emphasized that the widely circulated video content is fake and does not depict the volcano's current situation.

As of now, PVMBG notes that the status of Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Level III (Alert). The public is urged to remain calm, not be easily swayed by information not originating from official authorities, and continuously monitor the progress of the volcano's activity status through official government information channels.
