The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) officially organized the Domestic Market Open Trip Tourism Sales Mission event in Yogyakarta on Thursday (23/7/2026). This strategic step was taken to strengthen the national tourism ecosystem while stimulating public interest in exploring domestic destinations through more varied and budget-friendly travel options.

Through this business forum, the Ministry of Tourism brought together tourism industry players as sellers with potential buyers. Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana explained that the open trip scheme was chosen as a pilot project because it offers high efficiency for tourists. This travel package provides routes, schedules, facilities, and rates that have been well-packaged by the organizer, making it an ideal option for students, government agencies, banking, and corporations.

This tactical step by the government is also supported by the positive trend of domestic tourist movements, which continue to show an increase. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), domestic tourist movements throughout 2025 exceeded 1.20 billion trips, surging by 17.53 percent compared to the previous year. This growth trend continued in the first five months of 2026 with 523.22 million trips recorded.

Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, stated that the event themed Open Trip Table Top "Proud of Traveling in Indonesia" (Bangga Berwisata di Indonesia) serves as a curation platform that brings together trusted parties to generate effective business cooperation. This concept is considered highly relevant to modern market needs, especially the younger generation who crave practicality in traveling.

On the other hand, the Assistant Deputy for Domestic Tourism Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Erwita Dianti, revealed that the agenda in Yogyakarta involved 16 business players from various lines—ranging from tourist village managers, travel agencies, to transport providers—as well as 45 potential buyers. This face-to-face forum is expected to generate long-term cooperation that expands local tour package options while increasing the competitiveness of the national tourism sector.
