Maintaining body health in the modern era is no longer just about a healthy diet and regular exercise. The main key to true fitness lies in the balance between physical health, emotional stability, and an individual's spiritual strength. This became the main topic of discussion during a public health education activity in Sleman Regency.
Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKKMK UGM), Zaenal Muttaqien Sofro, explained the importance of this holistic health concept before hundreds of residents. The socialization event was held as part of the Kajian Ahad Kliwon forum taking place in the Ngablak area, Kapanewon Turi, Sleman.
In his presentation, Zaenal explained that modern medical science views human beings comprehensively, encompassing biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. He highlighted the numerous cases of chronic diseases in society rooted in the inability to manage stress and maintain inner peace. According to him, physical health is strongly influenced by a clear mind and a well-ordered heart.
As a simple and inexpensive preventive step, Zaenal recommended several simple daily habits. These range from increasing water consumption and avoiding prolonged sitting by staying active, to optimally utilizing every movement of prayer as a physical stretching exercise to improve blood circulation.
Furthermore, he also linked the importance of maintaining heart health to several teachings in holy scripture that align scientifically. This integrative approach aligns with the World Health Organization (WHO) standards, which define health as complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Through this education, the community is expected to transform their lifestyle comprehensively by combining medical aspects, worship, and social relationships.
