The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), together with Universitas Airlangga Hospital, took a concrete step toward strengthening the healthcare ecosystem in East Java. On Saturday (4/7/2026), the educational institution officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blambangan Regional Public Hospital (RSUD Blambangan) and Genteng Regional Public Hospital (RSUD Genteng) located in Banyuwangi.
The Rector of UNAIR emphasized that this cross-sectoral collaboration is an urgent necessity amid increasingly complex health development challenges. The cooperation is designed to synergize education, research, and community service aspects to create more targeted and sustainable healthcare services for Banyuwangi residents.
The Regent of Banyuwangi, Hj. Ipuk Fiestiandani, warmly welcomed the initiative. According to her, the presence of academics and healthcare practitioners from UNAIR is crucial in supporting regional policies, particularly in improving the Human Development Index through the optimization of medical services and community health education at the village level.
Furthermore, Regent Ipuk highlighted the strategic role of FIKKIA UNAIR students who have been actively assisting the community, especially in the livestock sector. She expressed hope that the integration between the university and the regional hospitals will not only produce competent healthcare professionals but also provide innovative solutions to various social issues in the Banyuwangi region.
