The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), through the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), has established a strategic collaboration with the Faculty of Computer Science at Brawijaya University to implement artificial intelligence (AI) systems in 178 Sekolah Rakyat. This innovative project is targeted to be fully operational in the 2026/2027 academic year as a concrete step toward digital transformation in education.

Head of BPSDM Komdigi, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, revealed that this technology is designed to ease administrative burdens while improving teaching effectiveness. Through the AI system, educators can compile curricula, design learning modules, and conduct student evaluations in a more accurate and structured manner.

This initiative was born from the Artificial Intelligence Talent Factory (AITF) Program, a platform connecting AI talent experts with urgent needs in the public sector. In the process, the research and development results from the program's participants are directly downstreamed into concrete solutions for the community, including a support system for distributing social assistance in East Java.

The Ministry of Social Affairs expressed full support for this step. Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Robben Rico, emphasized that the government is committed to providing intensive mentoring to more than 5,000 teachers to ensure they are proficient in operating the AI technology. This implementation will later be directly integrated with the existing Learning Management System (LMS) within the Sekolah Rakyat environment.

The integration of AI technology into the education system is projected to be an important milestone in accelerating national digital literacy. With the support of talent from the AITF program, the government is optimistic that the quality of learning in Sekolah Rakyat will increase significantly, while also having a positive impact on equal access to technology-based education across the country.
