Semarang City Regional Water Utility (Perumda Air Minum/PDAM) is ready to strengthen its water management and wastewater treatment systems through international collaboration. This strategic step is taken by embracing cooperation opportunities facilitated by Semarang State Polytechnic (Polines) with vocational education institutions from Guizhou, China.
President Director of PDAM Semarang City, Ady Setiawan, explained that this collaboration integrates higher vocational education with the industrial sector. This synergy is considered highly relevant as PDAM will soon manage a wastewater treatment plant and develop a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) in the Jatibarang area.
Through this global partnership, PDAM Semarang City will gain direct access to more advanced water treatment technology from China. As a reciprocal contribution, PDAM is ready to facilitate industrial internship programs for both Polines students and students from Guizhou to provide practical field experience.
Ady emphasized that the main focus of this cooperation is technology transfer to address current limitations in domestic wastewater treatment. Moving forward, the application of this modern technology is expected to treat wastewater not just into raw water, but to drinking water standards.
