The Undergraduate Office Administration Education (PAP) Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the State University of Surabaya (Unesa), continues to strive to improve the competitiveness of its graduates. This concrete step was realized through intensive training titled Business Etiquette & Table Manner held at the Mövenpick Grand City Surabaya Hotel on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The event, attended by students from the class of 2024, was designed to strengthen non-academic competencies. The main focus of the training was to ensure that students not only excel theoretically in office administration but also possess competent professional ethics when entering the real world of work.
The Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of FEB Unesa, Prof. Dr. Susanti, S.Pd., M.Si., who was present to accompany the students, emphasized the importance of a balance between academic capabilities, communication skills, and ethics. According to her, attitude and ethics are crucial instruments for graduates to win the competition in an increasingly competitive job market.
Before entering the main session, the students were invited to observe the hotel facilities. This hotel tour experience provided students with a comprehensive overview of service and operational standards in the hospitality industry, ranging from room service to restaurant management.
The core material was delivered by the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager of Mövenpick Hotel, Muhammad Ridho. He explained that formal dining is often the backdrop for strategic business decision-making. Therefore, mastering proper table manners is considered an added value capable of building a person's professional image.
Ridho added that good table manners not only serve to show respect to business partners but also act as an instrument to boost self-confidence in formal situations. Through this interactive session, students are expected to internalize these professional norms as preparation for entering their future careers.
