The Serang City Government, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI), held a Participatory Workshop at the Aston Hotel, Serang, on Monday (6/7/2026). This activity is a strategic step by the local government to map out challenges while strengthening multisectoral commitment to increasing basic immunization coverage for children in the region.
The Head of the Serang City Health Office, Ahmad Hasanudin, in his presentation emphasized that immunization is the primary foundation for building a child's immune system. He stressed that early protection through vaccination is crucial so that children can grow into healthy and strong individuals in facing various disease risks.
Echoing this sentiment, community leader KH. Matin Syarkowi urged the public to shift the paradigm that health is not solely the responsibility of the government. He emphasized the importance of collective awareness among individual parents to provide immunization protection for their children as a key asset for creating a golden generation in the future.
As a moral and religious basis, the organizers also highlighted the view of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), which states that immunization is a permitted effort (mubah) to protect human life. Under certain conditions, immunization is even viewed as an urgent necessity to prevent the risk of permanent disability or the threat of severe illness in children.
