A total of 98 Heads of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) from across Indonesia gathered for the Business Meeting and Matching session at the Business and Investment Forum during the XVIII APEKSI National Working Meeting 2026 in Medan. This strategic meeting served as a crucial momentum for city governments to dissect a new paradigm in attracting investors through the 'Roadmap to Investable City' concept.

Investment & Business Development Expert Fajar Informanto emphasized that city governments need to shift from merely hunting investors to becoming investable destinations. Through the '90-Day Playbook', regions are encouraged to optimize local assets based on three strategic pillars: occupancy, traffic, and income. This approach is expected to revitalize the local economic ecosystem while sustainably boosting Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

International collaboration was also highlighted during the forum. Representative of ACCIÓ, Siang Chin Sim, introduced innovative services from the Government of Catalonia, such as the GreenTech Catalogue and Open Innovation Challenge. These services offer concrete solutions for regional governments in Indonesia to access global industrial networks, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen commitments to innovation- and sustainability-based investments.

The transformation of investment governance now also demands a data-driven approach. Manager of Databoks by Katadata, Jamalinuri, explained the importance of utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to process over 100 strategic indicators. With a comprehensive dashboard, city governments can map investment profiles, analyze regional performance, and make more accurate decisions to enhance competitiveness at both national and global levels.

Beyond technical and data aspects, public communication strategies serve as a supporting pillar for regional image. VP of Commercial IDN, Benedictus Oktario, highlighted the importance of creative content packaging in promoting city potential to the younger generation and executive circles. Through digital media platforms and business networks such as FORTUNE Indonesia, city governments are expected to build effective narratives to boost investor and public trust broadly.

Closing out the series of events, all participants declared a joint commitment to implementing tangible steps over the next 90 days. This agreement is expected to act as a catalyst for creating an inclusive investment ecosystem, generating new job opportunities, and strengthening the position of Indonesian cities as highly competitive business destinations.
