The House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia urges the government to immediately synergize various cross-sector policies to address crucial issues affecting children in Indonesia. Issues such as school dropouts, extreme poverty, and bullying are still considered major homework for the national child protection system.
Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, emphasized that solving these issues requires concrete collaboration between the education, health, social, and economic sectors. According to him, all elements of the nation have a moral responsibility to ensure that children's basic rights are fully met.
Parliament is also committed to tightening its oversight function on the realization of the State Budget (APBN). This step is taken to ensure that every rupiah allocated by the government is truly on target and provides a real impact on improving the quality of life of the younger generation.
In addition to classic social issues, Cucun also highlighted new challenges in the form of information technology disruption that has the potential to damage the mentality of the next generation. To counter the negative impacts of the digital world, a clear division of roles is needed between government regulations, legislative oversight, and active guidance from families and educational institutions.
Going forward, the national development paradigm must focus on child welfare. Fulfilling proper nutrition, access to quality education, and a safe environment free from violence are the main foundations in building the sustainable welfare of the Indonesian people.
