The Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC) has officially marked two decades of its journey in supporting the national financial ecosystem. Since its establishment by Prime Ministerial Decision in 2005 and commencing operations in 2006, VSDC has evolved into the backbone of post-transaction infrastructure crucial for the stability and growth of Vietnam's stock market.

The organizational transformation into a state-owned limited liability company in 2009 and its status adjustment to the Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation in 2023 were key milestones in strengthening governance. By mid-2026, VSDC recorded the management of over 13 million investor accounts, with the total value of settled transactions exceeding 66 million billion VND.

One of VSDC's strategic achievements is the efficiency of the settlement cycle, which was successfully shortened from T+3 to T+2. This step is considered crucial in accelerating capital turnover and increasing market liquidity, bringing the operational standards of the Vietnamese exchange closer to international practices.

In addition to strengthening the stock sector, VSDC continues to diversify its services, ranging from clearing derivative markets, managing government and corporate bonds, to providing services for ETF mutual funds. Looking ahead, VSDC has also been appointed to oversee the custodian and settlement operations of the carbon exchange, which will soon be launched as part of sustainable development commitments.

Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Finance, Ta Anh Tuan, appreciated VSDC's dedication and encouraged the company to continue investing in cutting-edge technological infrastructure. In response to this directive, Chairman of VSDC's Board of Members, Nguyen Son, reaffirmed his institution's commitment to modernizing IT systems and implementing the Central Counterparty Clearing (CCP) mechanism, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

For its significant contribution to the country's economy, VSDC and its leadership team received the honorary Third-Class Labor Medal as recognition of their success in building a solid and sustainable capital market foundation.
