Suspected Fatal Assault in Karimun, Military Police Officer Named as Suspect

The 1/6 Batam Military Police Detachment (Denpom) has officially named a military police officer with the initials SN as a suspect in the fatal assault of a Karimun Regency resident with the initials U (30). This tragic incident reportedly occurred at a nightclub in the Tanjungbalai Karimun area.

Commander of Denpom 1/6 Batam, Lieutenant Colonel CPM Dela Guslafa, stated that the suspect has been detained and has confessed to his actions. To optimize the investigation process and maintain focus on handling the case, the officer, who served at the Tanjungbalai Karimun Subdenpom, has been transferred to the Denpom 1/6 headquarters in Batam.

Although SN has admitted to his actions, investigators are still examining the detailed chronology of the event through CCTV footage and witness testimonies. Based on initial reports, the incident was triggered when the suspect attempted to break up an altercation, which then led to the assault. Investigators are now focused on determining whether a blow to the vital neck area was the primary cause of the victim's death.

Lieutenant Colonel CPM Dela Guslafa added that the suspect and the victim actually knew each other well and were good friends. During his approximately seven-month service in Karimun, the military police officer had no record of disciplinary infractions. However, all of this initial information will be further verified as the legal process continues.

On the other hand, the victim's family demands justice and full transparency in the handling of this case. The victim's younger sister, Anita, shared that she only found out about the incident after her brother was rushed to the Tanjungbalai Karimun Community Health Center (Puskesmas) already deceased. She hopes the legal process will be fair and that the perpetrator will receive a punishment fitting his actions.
