Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, officially inaugurated several high-ranking officials within the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) on Friday (10/7/2026). In the ceremony, Suyadi was appointed as the Secretary of Kemenpora (Sesmenpora), replacing Gunawan Suswantoro, who now serves as a special staff member to the minister.
In addition to the Sesmenpora position, Erick also refreshed the leadership for the position of Deputy for Sports Industry Development. According to Erick, the selection of the new officials was conducted through a transparent and accountable open bidding mechanism to ensure that the chosen individuals possess the best qualifications for the agency.
In his directive, Erick emphasized the importance of synergy and performance effectiveness so that all Kemenpora programs can deliver a tangible impact. He expressed hope that both the Sesmenpora and the new Deputy will fulfill their mandate by ensuring that policy benefits are directly felt by athletes, youth, and the broader public.
Suyadi, as the new Sesmenpora, committed to elevating service standards to the maximum, both for sports branch organizations and the national sports ecosystem. He recognized Kemenpora's strategic role as the vanguard in supporting the advancement of the nation's sports sector.
Meanwhile, Arlan, the new Deputy who comes from a non-civil servant professional background, expressed optimism about quickly adapting to the ministry's bureaucracy. He highlighted his vision to shift the sports paradigm from a mere expense to an economic growth driver or revenue center through the sustainable development of the sports industry.
