The Lima Gunung Community is once again hosting the 25th Lima Gunung Festival (FLG), a routine event for farmer-artists in the mountain regions of Merapi, Merbabu, Andong, Sumbing, and Menoreh. This year, Warangan Hamlet was selected to host the cross-regional art event, which will run for three days from July 10 to 12, 2026.

The Head of the Lima Gunung Community, Sujono, explained that 85 art groups from various regions such as Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, Bogor, and Cirebon have been curated to perform. Given the high enthusiasm of applicants, the committee implemented a strict selection system to maintain an ideal performance duration for each performing group, involving a total of 1,274 artists.

This year's event emphasizes the principle of full independence. Teguh, a representative of Warangan Hamlet residents, emphasized that all technical needs—ranging from an 8 x 16 meter stage to lighting and a 10,000-watt sound system—are self-funded through the sale of festival merchandise. There is no involvement of commercial sponsors or external donors in the event's operations.

The event lineup will showcase artistic diversity, from traditional dance and contemporary art to fine art exhibitions that the public can enjoy free of charge. Performances will start every morning and run into the night, featuring collaborations between art studios as well as closing performances by prominent artists each day.

On the peak day, Sunday (July 12), the agenda will feature the Kirab Lima Gunung parade, symbolizing community togetherness. This festival stands as tangible proof of the Magelang farmer-artists' consistency in nurturing the local cultural ecosystem without relying on commercial funding.
